The UK premiere of the Tony award-winning Newsies The Musical has been running at Troubadour Theatre in Wembley Park since 2022. Its tremendous success led to an extended run, until 30 July 2023. So quick, that’s not long to catch the show.
Based on a true story, Newsies is set in New York City at the turn of the 19th century. A tale that takes theatregoers on a fight for justice, as a ragged band of teenage newspaper sellers dream of a better life, far from the hardship of the streets. Get right inside the action with this immersive production, as the newsies dance, sing, jump and fly around the streets of a booming 19th-century New York City.
The musical is inspired by the real-life story of a newsboy strike that took place in New York City in 1899, led by teenager Jack Kelly with a band of young newspaper sellers who refuse to work for Joseph Pulitzer, the owner of one of America’s most-read newspapers, until he pays them fairly.
Now, more than a century later, audiences can relive the protests with the Newsies cast at Troubadour Theatre. The high-energy song and dance show from Disney will inspire you to “Seize the Day” just as the ragtag group of newsboys and girls did by striking for their rights.
Our Studio Five Restaurant is based within Troubadour Theatre, so you can book a pre-theatre meal with us too and make a night of it. Just arrive from 5pm for a relaxed meal from our à la carte menu. Or duck in as late as 7pm for a quick burger or falafel wrap from our express menu. We’re located just a 30 second walk from the auditorium, so no quick dash to get to the theatre on time.
